About Teka Flowers

Meet Tina, owner and floral creative.

I am Tina and Teka Flowers is my baby, the product of 30 years of experience in the floristry industry. I have done it all and been everywhere, as a fledgling florist in my own business at the tender age of 17, to working at some of the top florist businesses around Perth. My career has been as varied as it is long, as I found ways to continue to express my creativity and love for flowers over the journey that life has taken me on thus far. In what can only be described as a full circle moment, here I am, back at the beginning again, with my own business. And I couldn’t be happier.

Through the ups and downs of life (and there have been plenty!), three people have always stood beside me: my beautiful, selfless mum and my two handsome sons, now young men. They inspire me to bring the joy to others that they bring to me. Combining each of our initials, the name of my business, Teka Flowers, was born.

Floristry to me is art, it is therapeutic, a creative outlet, the culmination of inspiration from the world around me, and, most importantly, it is a way to create beautiful connections between people. It is why I do what I do. When I design and create arrangements, the process is driven by the smile I can visualise when the arrangement is handed over. I marry the client’s instructions with the occasion, the freshest seasonal flowers I have access to and the personal touch I am known for. When you see those wisps of pampas grass or gold-sprayed foliage, you instantly know it is a Teka Flowers original.

Happy clients and recipients are my definition of success. There is no greater honour for me than when customers return to order from me. I treasure and value their trust in my work and artistic process, and the personal relationships built with clients have been the foundation of my business.

When I’m not at the flower markets, in my studio or on the road doing deliveries, you can find me at home (and at the soccer field, in mum’s taxi…) raising two teenage boys. Perhaps floristry is a little like parenthood – time-consuming, challenging, requiring creativity and thinking outside of the box, but with the best pay-off at the end! My little furry boys, Oscar and AJ, also keep me company. I enjoy a cheeky wine, catching up with friends and family, and taking in the fresh air and inspiration of the great outdoors. Oh, and travelling…whenever we will be able to do that again!
